To say that Danny Dance loves House Music would be an understatement. He plays House in nightclubs, festivals, parks, piano bars, and city centers. He teaches House Dance to kids in schools and afterschool programs throughout the city. His production work and remixes span the entire spectrum of House Music culture.

A native of Miami, Danny was exposed to the wide variety of music and dance that comes with growing up in a city so diverse. His DJ sets reflect that same scope, weaving in Latin, Tribal, Tech, Funky, Soulful, Deep, and other genres of House into an experience that turns even casual clubgoers into House Music lovers. “I am literally on a mission to find new fans of House Music and to help expand House Dance culture on a global scale,” admits Dance. “If I can transfer my enthusiasm for this music to everyone I DJ for, I’ll be happy for the rest of my life.” Find his free DJ mixes and remixes on iTunes, Soundcloud, Reverbnation, PodOmatic, SSRadio, and more.

  1. Danny,
I’ve had some time at work (9-5 day desk job) and got to see some of your videos on YouTube. All I can say is that I can definitely relate to what you’re saying and how you say it.

I grew up during the start of the B-Boy craze, eventually finding my way to House. Simply put, it spoke to me. I did my research, found its disco roots, the funk, the soul, the beats, the moves. I loved to dance and picked up plenty of moves at the clubs – if only I had kept up with them…but I did become a DJ. But like the song goes, “Not everyone understands house music…” so I don’t always play what I want to (gotta read the audience).

I understand that dance is a feeling but also (unfortunately) a business – but let me know next time you’re in Philly and where you may be performing.

    Keep up the great work.

    -Gene B.

Gene, thanks for sharing your story, brother; always glad to see House is full of great people no matter the place! Bboying was my first love also; dancing helped me discover myself and when I found House it was a natural progression from B-Boy to Houser. Such a liberating set of dances! I hear you on the feeling and the business and I’m trying to of course make a living doing and sharing what I love, which is difficult because House isn’t as popular as it was in the 90s, for example. But onwards we push! When I’m in Philly (hopefully next year as my music career takes off), we’ll definitely have to connect! Respect!

    Danny,

You are very much an inspiration. I’m a late-bloomer, 37yo, and I got into house music only about 5 years ago after walking into a random club with my lady friend here in L.A.- I fell in love with not only the music, but most of all the sense of community. All ages, races, religions, peeps from all walks of life enjoying the same vibe but in their own personal way- just a beautiful thing to behold. My dancing has gotten pretty good, too, your vids have been a great help (still working on my K Pharoahs.) Keep up the great work.

    -D

P.S. Ever make it down to so-cal?

Hey Demetrius, thanks for such a wonderful comment, man! Glad to hear you’re keeping the House Dance culture alive in your own way. To tell you the truth, my original House Dance mentor (who also taught me how to DJ) was about 37 or 38 and he could DANCE!! So 37 isn’t old. You’re right about House bringing everybody together—I’ve never seen a fight break out at a House Music club :) . So the vids have been helpful? I’m glad. I really need to make some proper tutorials. I keep saying “soon”, but I need to stop making music for a bit and focus on these vids ;) . Haven’t made it down to So-Cal in the last two years, but hope to be able to come DJ and dance sometime next. Let’s keep in touch!

      Wow Mikey,

Nice hearing from you, buddy, and I’m so glad the vids have helped. I wish I’d been house dancing since 17 like you are, man! You’re totally right, it’s the best and most fun feeling, and you’ll hopefully get to inspire some local cats to join you and spread the dance throughout San Jose even more :)

Glad you’re digging the tunes; join the mailing list if you’d like to get the tracks delivered to your email each week. Spread the word, the music, and the feeling—maybe I’ll get to come DJ and dance out in San Jose next year! :)

      Keep Dancing!
